Does Butterfly Blue Pea Flower tea contain caffeine or real tea leaves?

No. Butterfly Pea Flower tea is a 100% botanical tisane made exclusively from whole sun-dried blossoms of Clitoria ternatea. It contains zero caffeine, zero Camellia sinensis tea leaves, and zero artificial dyes or additives.

Why does the blue tea turn purple when lemon or citrus is added?

Butterfly pea flowers are exceptionally rich in ternatins (a potent class of anthocyanin antioxidants). Anthocyanins are natural pH indicators: when acidic ingredients like fresh lemon juice, lime, or tonic water are introduced, the pH drops and causes the vivid sapphire liquor to instantly shift to deep purple or magenta pink.

How should butterfly pea flowers be brewed (hot vs cold)?

For a hot infusion, steep 4–6 whole dried blossoms per 250ml of freshly boiled water (90°C–95°C) for 4–5 minutes. For cold brew or cocktail syrups, infuse 10–12 blossoms in room-temperature or cold filtered water for 4–6 hours in the refrigerator for a vibrant, smooth blue extract.

What grades and cut formats do you supply for commercial buyers?

We offer Export Grade A Intact Whole Flowers (hand-harvested and solar-dried to preserve calyx and petal structure), coarse cut for blending, fine Tea Bag Cut (TBC 1–3mm) for automated pyramid packaging machines, and micro-pulverized water-soluble blue matcha powder.

What certifications and export documentation accompany consignments?

All Damodarr botanical teas are processed under FSSAI Central License (Lic. No. 10024011000842) and ISO 22000:2018 food safety standards. Each consignment is shipped with batch-specific NABL Certificate of Analysis (COA) verifying moisture (<8%), microbiological parameters, heavy metal limits, pesticide residues, and Phytosanitary Certificate.

Can this be used as a 100% natural blue food and beverage colorant?

Yes. Butterfly blue pea extract is widely approved globally (including US FDA approval for butterfly pea flower extract in food and beverages) as an all-natural, clean-label plant-based blue colorant for craft cocktails, kombucha, confectionery, bakery, and RTD beverage formulations.
